The dockside story: a former owner lost her in a single hand of baccarat in Monte Carlo, handed over the keys at sunrise and flew home commercial.

Our take: Yachts change hands through brokers, lawyers and about forty signatures, not one bad card. That said, Monaco has seen stranger nights, so we're keeping one eyebrow up.

Spot a Yacht take: nobody loses a yacht on one hand of cards. There's paperwork, brokers, a flag state. But I've been to Monaco on a Saturday night and I've learned to never say never.

The bartender in question is my cousin. He also told me he once dated a princess. Make of that what you will.
